Kerala

Better late than never....

I'm off to the USA tonight for thanksgiving, but here is a delayed post from Kerala, a state that I visited in the southern part of India. It was an amazing beach destination. The Keralan food is my favorite (lots of tasty curries and fish dishes). We spent 5 days on the beach, 2 days on a houseboat, and 2 days in Kochin (a city). The houseboat was very colonial - felt a bit weird at times, but really really fun. You get to explore "the backwaters" an area of marshland where people live. Also of note is that Kerala is one of India's communist states, so you may notice the soviet hammer and sickle everywhere.
